Huntington's Crocker, Carroll, ZT's Allen take home top honorsAfter finishing second in the SVC, Huntington brought home some hardware in the awards category as senior backstop DJ Crocker was named Player of the Year, while returning head coach Chad Carroll was named co-Coach of the Year, along with Zane Trace's Ron Allen.
Zane Trace brought home the SVC crown with a great mix of on-base skills, speed, defense and pitching. Leading the way for the Pioneers were a pair of juniors in Josh Young and Landen Jarrell, who both were named first team All-SVC. Young hit .394, with 7 doubles, 21 RBI and 14 runs scored, while also throwing 57.2 innings to an 8-1 record, 46 punchouts and a 1.58 ERA. Jarrell, a slick fielding shortstop, hit .312 with a .516 on-base percentage, 7 extra base hits, 16 RBI, 18 steals and 26 runs scored. Seniors Rece Allen and Blake Phillips were named to second team All-SVC. Allen hit .307 with 23 steals and 33 runs scored, while playing elite outfield defense. Phillips hit .315 with 17 runs and 20 RBI while throwing out 7 would-be base stealers on the year. Sophomores Dillon Hoover (6-2, 52 K, 2.05 ERA) and Gunnar McCullough (.338, 26 runs, 22 RBI) were named honorable mention for the SVC Champions. Huntington finished second in the SVC for the second straight year, led by a duo of seniors in DJ Crocker and Braylon Leach. Crocker, the SVC Player of the Year, hit .500 with 25 RBI, 23 runs scored, and 9 extra base hits. Crocker also threw 23.1 innings for the Huntsmen, going 3-1 with a 2.40 ERA and 24 strikeouts. Leach played high level defense in center field, while hitting .467, with 25 runs scored, 7 doubles and 20 stolen bases. Sophomore Andrew Oyer earned second team honors after going 8-2 on the bump with a 1.95 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 50.1 innings. Senior Mitchell Willis (.294, 13 RBI, 23 runs) and junior Brayden Elliott (3-1, 1.42 ERA, .339 BA, 22 RBI) were named honorable mention. After finished tied with Huntington for second in the SVC, Unioto took home several honors. Led by senior Ashton Crace and junior catcher Keegan Snyder on first team, the Shermans are on the verge of another 20-win season. Crace was the top two-way player in the league, leading the league in batting average (.506) and earned run average (0.00 in 34 innings). Crace also had 10 extra base hits, 17 RBI, 10 stolen bases and scored 32 runs, along with going 6-0 on the hill with 54 punchouts in only 34 innings. Snyder, the 2022 Player of the Year, followed up an outstanding sophomore campaign with another, hitting .386, with a league leading 9 doubles, 18 RBI and 24 runs scored. Snyder also threw out 12 would-be base stealers. The Shermans had a pair of seniors on second team All-SVC, led by Dylan Grubbs and Maverick Frump. Grubbs hit .414 with 10 extra base hits, 19 runs scored and 22 RBI, while also going 2-1 with 2 saves, a 1.38 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 20.1 innings. Frump led the SVC in strikeouts with 73 in 47.1 innings, while going 5-2 with 2 saves and a 1.63 ERA. Frump also hit .339 with 14 RBI. Seniors Landyn Patterson (.368, 17 runs, 24 RBI) and Owen Link (.279, 10 RBI, 3-1, 40 K in 25 IP) were named honorable mention. Southeastern made a significant jump from a season ago when they went 2-12 and 5-17 overall to a 4th place finish this season. Sophomore Carson McWhorter was named to first team All-SVC after being one of the elite pitchers in the SVC, while Joey Pfeifer and Gage Cheadle each were named honorable mention All-SVC for the Panthers. A four-way tie came for 5th between Adena, Paint Valley, Piketon and Westfall, with several players earning All-SVC honors. Adena's Austin Magill was named first team All-SVC, hitting .319 with 19 RBI along with a 4-4 record, 45 strikeouts in 42.2 innings and a 3.45 ERA. Ethan Puckett (.322, 15 runs, 42 K in 27 IP) and Christian Heath (.313, 16 runs, 10 stolen bases) were named honorable mention for the Warriors. Paint Valley's Carson Free and Preston Fauber were named to second team All-SVC. Free, a junior, led the Bearcats with a .342 average, 4 doubles, 20 runs and 10 stolen bases. Fauber, a sophomore catcher, hit .304 with 16 runs scored and also picked up a pair of wins on the hill. John Free (4-2, 64 K in 50.1 IP, 2.09 ERA) and Owen Donahue (3-2, 33 K in 33.1 IP, 2.52 ERA, .254 BA, 17 runs) were named honorable mention for the Bearcats. Piketon's Garrett Legg earned first team honors for the Redstreaks. The junior third basemen hit .354, with 5 doubles, 15 RBI, and 17 runs. Honorable mention honorees for the Redstreaks were Ashton Cormany (.348, 23 runs, 11 stolen bases) and Malik Diack (.271, 6 XBH, 12 RBI, 17 runs and 8 stolen bases). Westfall's Brenden Tuttle was named to first team All-SVC after an outstanding two-way campaign, with a .344 batting average, 18 runs and 17 stolen bases, while also striking out 51 batters in 35.1 innings and a 2.77 ERA. Fellow junior Noah Stonerock was named to second team All-SVC while hitting .311, with 3 triples and 11 RBI, while also striking out 39 in 28.1 innings and posting a 3.46 ERA. Seniors Brady Mullins (.372) and Trent Walters (.310, 18 runs, 17 stolen bases) were named to honorable mention for the Mustangs.

Unioto's Hull Duo Takes Top PrizesAfter winning their first Gold Ball for an undefeated league season since 1998, Unioto was rewarded with a trio of first team All-SVC award winners, as well as both Player and Coach of the Year awards. Head Coach Rob Hull takes home coach of the year honors, as his Shermans are out to a 20-3 record on the season after making a run to the Division II Elite Eight in 2023. Senior Hannah Hull earned Player of the Year honors by going 20-3 in the circle, with a league leading 120 punchouts and 1.54 ERA. Hull also hit .306 on the season with 11 extra base hits and 18 RBI, all massive improvements from 2023. Senior catcher Abbie Marshall was named 1st team after leading the SVC in Home Runs (10) and RBI (38), while also hitting .513 and scoring 38 runs, both team high's. Marshall tied an OHSAA record for HR's in a game with 4 at Washington earlier this season. Ohio University commit and senior centerfielder Alexis Book was also named to first team behind a .500 batting average, 21 extra base hits and 37 runs scored. Book is the SVC's All-Time leader in both Home Runs (30) and Runs Scored (169). Senior shortstop Megan Miller was named to 2nd team with a .492 average, 16 extra base hits , 30 runs scored and 31 RBI. Marshall and Miller will continue their careers at Heidelberg in 2025. Senior slugger Ava Dettwiller (8 HR, 21 RBI) and freshman Haylee Hull (.415, 15 XBH, 32 RBI) were named honorable mention All-SVC from Unioto.
Adena finished in 2nd place in the SVC and that was largely behind the senior duo of Emma Garrison and Kiera Williams, who were both named to first team All-SVC. Garrison hit .500, while scoring 31 runs, knocking in 28 and also swiping 19 bases, all of which were among league leaders. Williams did a little of everything for the Warriors, hitting .409, scoring 36 times, knocking in 30 runs, stealing 18 bases, collecting 15 extra base hits and also posting a 5-1 pitching record with a 3.21 ERA. Freshman Marly Halcomb was awarded with a second team nod after her outstanding debut season. Halcomb hit .446 while scoring 34 runs and leading the league with 6 triples. Adriana Guarnieri (.338, 32 runs, 21 RBI) and Sophie Cheesebrew (.435, 19 RBI, 6-2 record) were named honorable mention for the Warriors. After finishing just 3-11 and 12-15 overall last season, Piketon made a massive improvement behind a youth movement, leading to a third place finish. Freshmen Jaylin Forbes and Aubrey Heath were each named second team All-SVC. Forbes hit .415 with 16 extra base hits, 23 RBI and 28 runs scored, while Heath hit .407 with 11 extra base hits, 22 RBI and 37 runs scored. Paige Helton (14-7, 72 K, 2.63 ERA) and Kyndall Carroll (.471, 9 XBH, 28 RBI, 2-2 record, 2.51 ERA) were named to honorable mention for the Streaks. Westfall was led on first team by senior Delana Landefeld, while junior Sydney Fuller earned second team honors. The Mustangs placed Adrina Hicks and Gabby Henry on honorable mention as they tied with Zane Trace for 4th place in the league. Zane Trace was led by a pair of upperclassmen, with Brynn Wipert earning first team and Abby Guffey earning second team. Wipert led the SVC with a .536 batting average and led the Pioneers with 25 RBI, while also winning 9 games in the circle, striking out 118 batters and collecting a 2.97 ERA. Guffey put together another nice campaign, batting .411 with 12 extra base hits, 16 RBI and 18 runs scored. Being named to honorable mention for Zane Trace were Laynie Scott and Haylynn Boggess-Pierce. Huntington's Savannah Bushatz was named to first team after putting up video game numbers. Bushatz hit .533 with 33 runs scored, 33 RBI, 18 doubles, 5 triples and 21 stolen bases. Allie Baker and Mackenzie Paugh were named to second team for the Huntsmen. Baker had an unreal offensive year with a .440 average, 39 runs scored, 29 RBI, and 9 homers. Paugh was second in the SVC in wins, while also being in the top 5 in strikeouts and ERA as well. Honorable mention award winners were Nora Moore and Leah McCloskey for Huntington. Paint Valley's Sophia Stauffer earned first team honors after hitting .494, with 26 runs scored and 34 stolen bases. Kasarah Cantrell (131 IP, 110 K, .325 BA) and Kyla Littler (.500 BA, 7 doubles) were named honorable mention for the Bearcats. Southeastern's Jozy Lougheed earned second team honors after leading the Panthers in BA (.392), extra base hits (11), RBI (17), runs (20), and stolen bases (15). Dylan Skaggs (.310, 10 stolen bases) and Ally Fisher (.295, 10 stolen bases) were named honorable mention for the Panthers. |
